The Latest Trend: Russian Volume

The latest in fashion is to have not only longer lashes, but to achieve a more dense and softer look by opting for the Russian Volume technique.

As the name suggests, this new trend originates from Russia, where lash pioneers created fans made out from 2 or more lashes and placing them on to a single natural lash to create the fullest set you can possibly imagine. Something completely unachievable with classic style extensions, which provide little fullness and mainly length. Prior to the introduction of the Russian Volume technique, technicians would apply multiple single lashes onto a natural lash (also known as multiple stacking technique), creating extensive damage to the natural lashes. On the contrary, the Russian Volume technique utilises ultra-light and ultra-thin extensions, from 0.05mm to 0.07mm diameter, in order to create bouquet of lashes that fan out throughout the eyelid to achieve a dark and dense look.

So the big question is, how can placing so many lashes not cause damage? Utilising 0.07mm width lashes, a 3D fan is equivalent to one 0.12mm lash. It actually places less strain on the natural lash compared to the 0.15mm lashes used in classic sets. One 6D fan is equivalent to one 0.20mm lash, hence these sets are mostly for those with strong natural lashes to begin with.

The Russian Volume technique, is a more delicate, labour intense and intricate technique in comparison to the one utilised in Classic Sets. The technician manually creates custom made fans made on the spot, while the client is lying on the bed, and attaches them to each single natural lash. This technique requires lots of mastering, patience and attention to detail. For this reason, it takes much longer to complete a Full Russian Set. Nevertheless, Russian Volume sets are worthwhile as the results speak for themselves.

The main benefit of the volume technique is that even if you have sparse, fine lashes naturally you can still achieve fullness and body and bring out your beauty through your eyes. Compared to classic extensions, the finish is much softer, fluffier, and multi dimensional. For more information please contact Glam Lashes at info@glamlashes.com.au.
